Popcorn Kicks Off

Great to see everyone last night, despite the less than ideal weather! 

We kicked off our Popcorn Fundraiser last night.  Our Popcorn Webpage is the Central page that gives you additional information, goal tracking, and key dates.  This fundraiser helps us to offset many of our costs throughout the year, so we can provide an affordable program for all.  The Pack needs funds to pay for:
  • Awards and Patches 
  • Pinewood Derby Cars and Trophies
  • Camping Supplies
  • Blue and Gold
  • Registration Fees 
  • Operating Expenses

Our Goal is to sell $15000 in popcorn this year.  We will do that in 4 ways:
  • Door-to-Door- you can take your Scout around your neighborhood to ask neighbors to support Scouting (HINT:  McKamy students....be the first Scout to stay after school one day and ask the teachers and Mr. Pruitt to purchase, they love our Pack and what we do for the school so most will buy from you!).  There is a nifty app that you can use on your phone or internet enabled device.  For instructions on how to use, click Here.  If you use the App you are able to accept Credit Cards
  • Office- ask mom or dad to take the order form to their office.
  • Online- Instructions to setup your online account can be found Here.  Step 4 of the setup process will ask you for the Unit Information.  It is very important to make sure you enter this correctly so your scout gets credit for online sales.  Here is what you enter
    • Council= Circle Ten
    • District= North Star; Unit = Pack 693.  Your webpage can be posted online, social media, or sent via email.  This year Shipping and Handling costs are way down.  Free shipping is available for a customer ordering $90+
  • Show n Sales- we will setup a booth at local businesses and sell to customers entering the store.  We have 3 dates right now:
    • Walmart Carrollton (1213 E Trinity Mills): Sept 15 10a-2p & Oct 13 10a-2p 
    • Family Video (1000 W Rosemeade Pkwy) Oct 12 5p-8p
    • Additional dates are being requested.  I will post updates when confirmed.
    • Since the stores limit the number of Scouts that can be present in front the store, we ask that everyone sign up for a slot Here.  

I received a few Questions last night and thought I'd list them here for everyone's benefit.
  1. What happens if I don't sell $460, do I have to pay the full amount of $150?   No, we ask that all Scouts "Do your Best."  If you do 2 or 3 show and sales, have mom/dad take the form to work, and ask your neighbors on your street to purchase, you should be able to hit this $460 mark.  It is very doable!  If you are way under this amount, we will work together with you to find a way you can support the Pack so your Scout can still benefit from the Scouting Program.  We do have a few families where fundraising is not feasible for them, if this is the case, we ask that you commit to paying the Pack fee of $150 by the December Pack Meeting.
  2. What do we wear to show we are from Scouts?  Great question and one I had not been asked before!  You should wear your Field Uniform (Tan/Blue Uniform).  For our new families just joining us, you probably don't have one yet.  We can help you out with a Pack T-shirt or see if we have something in the Pack Uniform Closet that will work until you are able to get your uniform.
  3. Do we collect the money up front?  Yes, collect all money up front.  We accept Cash, Checks made payable to Pack 693, or Credit Cards through the trails-end app.  
  4. Can we do a Show n Sale somewhere else ?  Absolutely!  This can make a great den event or you can just participate with your son individually.  If you'd like us to promote to the entire pack, please let John know and we can do that as well.  If you are able to acquire permission from the business owner, we will support you by providing the Show n Sale products, pack flag, change, credit card readers, etc.  Our Show n Sale products won't arrive until 9/15 so any dates you setup should be after this date.
If you weren't able to make it to the Pack Meeting because of the weather, we hope to see you at our Rocket Launch activity on Sunday 9/9 at Martha Pointer Park from 2 pm-4pm.  We will get you the Popcorn Sales packets then.
